Description:
The Gyrocompass is a true-north and attitude (roll & pitch) indicating instrument. Its indications are transmitted electrically to gyrocompass repeaters and other equipment in any part of the vessel where they may be required. These equipments are used in the navigation of the vessel as well as for sonar, fire control and weapons systems.
Types:
Mechanical/Ballistic – The operating principle of a mechanical/ ballistic gyrocompass is based on the moment of inertia of a rapidly spinning wheel.
